Green Wood Fairy, by James Christensen

"I Believe in Fairies"

Of course I believe in fairies
I've known them all my life
They've always been there with me
Helping to handle all my strife

They're noticeable in times of beauty
When it's a sylvan and rustic scene
Fresh countryside wholesome air
Where you can ponder what you've seen
I know they're not for everyone
Some people never meet them
There is a special state of mind
Where you open up and greet them

They are so much like us
In looks and disposition
Although sometimes in disguise
You can see right through transition

They often move so quickly
Not always where you look
You'd think they were pulled off the scene
By some uncanny hook

But it only seems that way
They'll always reappear
At least they have for me
And I hold that vision dear

"Forest Sonata"
Droplets of rain
Clinging precariously
To the tips of leaves.
Glisten in the sunlight
Like magic orbs
Invigorating the imagination.
When nudged
Ever so gently
By zephyrs of a breeze
Cascade to earth
In a mist.
Creating a rainbow
In the forest.

The Song of Lord and Ladies Fairy

Faeries, when you lose your way,
From the dance returning,
In the darkest undergrowth,
See my candles burning!
These shall make the pathway plain,
Homeward to your beds again.

The Song of The Larch Fairy

Sing a song of Larch trees
Loved by fairy~folk;
Dark stands the pinewood,
Bare stands the oak,
But the Larch is dressed and trimmed
Fit for fairy~folk!
Sing a song of Larch trees,
Sprays that swing aloft,
Pink tufts, and tassels
Grass~green and soft;
All to please the little elves
Singing songs aloft!

The Song of The Wood~Sorrel Fairy

In the wood the trees are tall,
Up and up they tower;
You and I are very small~~
Fairy~child and flower.
Bracken stalks are shooting high,
Far and far above us;
We are little, you and I,
But the fairies love us.

The Song of The Stitchwort Fairy

I am brittle~stemmed and slender,
But the grass is my defender,
On the banks where grass is long,
I can stand erect and strong.
All my mass of starry faces
Looking up from wayside places,
From the thick and tangled grass,
Gives you greeting as you pass.
