When the
fairy needs a ride at night
He uses fireflies for his flight
He keeps them in the meadow all day
Then calls them up for a quick getaway
He has so many things to do
Helping folks, like me and you
He tries to do it in the light
But sometimes he has to go at night

tending to a disaster,
A bumblebee is faster
But he can’t see at night
So the fairy uses firefly light
I’ve often wondered why
When I see them light the sky
They move without direction
The path, is the fairy’s selection
He only needs a flash to see
The highway where he wants to be
So most of his flight is in the dark
Still, he’ll never miss his mark
