there's a merry-go-round inside my head

each horse is a different thought

and I know which one I want to ride

but every time I move...it's gone

swirling past at a ridiculous pace

the horses knock me to the ground

I'd like to have a word with the operator

but he won't ever show his face

he slows them down long enough for me to choose

but not down enough for me to mount

so what if my ideas are dangerous

can't see 'em clearly enough to act

and what if one is beautiful?

it's torn asunder by the next

should've never brought the circus to town

but how was I to know that it would never leave?

there's a carousel inside my head

and I don't know which horse I'm on

though it's fairly clear to me right now

that the horse I want is gone.
